Just a quick note regarding our very successful Saint Nikolas market on the 6th of December in the Gasperhof in Kreuth-Schaerfen. We managed to raise €1000 for our cause! Many thanks to all the participants and helping hands. You can view a short text with photos here.

In the past few weeks a lot of things have been happening. The 'baking season' has started again. Moreover more and more 20kg parcels containing donated school books have been brought on their way to Fort Portal. January next year will mark UAAH's next visit to the projects. Angelika and Evelyn will fly to Uganda to get a personal update and view the progress.
Young artist from Halle an der Saale played a small matinee concert on the 9th of November in the Gasperhof in Schaerfen. Thanks to Mrs. Helgard Neumann from Rottach-Egern a young female violinist and a male cellist gave a concert of classical pieces to invited guests. The musicians were very well received and gave rise to big praise. In addition €1000 were raised to be used as funds for further school books and materials.
We are especially grateful to Mrs. Neumann who got us in touch with the musicians, and Mrs. Schwab who donated food and drink for the event. Moreover a big thanks goes to all the additional helping hands, as well as to the butcher Walch who donated the sausages at an especially low price.
For the 6th of December we want to invite everyone to a special Saint Nikolas market to the Gasperhof. Everyone is welcome. Children and adults will be able to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Christmas in and outside of the old farm cottage form the 15th century. Santa Claus will fly by at 3pm to bring a present to all the children attending. Traditional bavarian 'Goasslschnoizer' will perfom out in the yard at 3.30pm. Inside the festively decorated house you will be able to purchase handmade christmas cookies, jams and crafts and presents whilst listening to music and enjoying mulled wine and biscuits.
Furthermore we will be present at the Rottacher Christmas Market on the 22nd and 23rd of December starting from 2pm.

Celebrating her birthday our member Evelyn did without presents and instead accepted donations for UAAH. €690 were raised at the party and could be credited to our account. Many thanks to all the donors!
Furthermore at our last jumble sale in Bad Wiessee on the 3rd of August we sold goods for €550 and received many more goods to sell. Here too we want to thanks all the donors and supporters of our cause.

Werner and Angelika Jaksch visited all UAAH projects while travelling in Uganda from April 1st to May 1st. At the moment more than 1000 photos are being sorted, a comprehensive report will follow soon. A few photos of the opening of the health unit in Mahyoro are shown here in advance.

World AIDS day, 1st of December 2007
UAAH is baking with children for children:
The comprehensive school Rottach-Egern-Kreuth is going to bake 922 dough AIDS ribbons with the help of their home economics teacher, her classes and our baking team in the local school kitchen. These will be bought for 2€ each by the students and teachers of the school as well as the secondary school in Tegernsee. All the money raised will go to the Vocational school in Mahyoro to help the students and the school.
On the 16th of December UAAH is organizing a pre-christmas afternoon including bavarian music groups and folk performances plus the reading of small philosophical bavarian poems by a local artist. We are hoping to raise a considerable amount of money by giving the people a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Moreover UAAH has received orders for about 35kg of christmas cookies in our annual christmas cookie bakery. The busy helpers have been active for the past weeks and on the 30th of December 350 little package each 100g will be delivered to the recipients.

News January to July 2007
A good friend organized a luncheon celebrating her birthday. Instead of asking for gifts she asked for donations for UAAH, as she has done the previous years. As some of her friends were unable to attend the first date in March she repeated the whole thing in April for a second time. All in all we are happy to say that she managed to raise donations worth € 865.
Due to very active new members of our NGO we were able to organize a stand at local flee markets. We made many new experiences feeling the dependence on good weather, once we had constant rain, the other times the weather was fine, though nearly too hot, although we had thought to bring a sun umbrella. But our intake washed over these inconveniences. The first time round € 275 came into our tills, the second time it even was € 570.
At the beginning of July we gave a huge celebration for which also we wouldn’t take presents but instead asked for donations to the cause. We are very happy and grateful to all as we could collect € 2000 in all for the effort. Therefore we have come closer to our aim of financing the dispensary needed in the St. Theresa Centre in Mahyoro. We have already given hallf the amount – € 5000 – to Fr. Fred and announced another € 2500. Hopefully we will be able to send him the rest by the end of the year.
Selling jams has just begun and we were able to raise € 300 up till now. If anybody is interested please get into contact with Angelika.
A lot of new ideas are spinning around in our heads. We hope to put some of them into action and to therefore conclude this year as successfully as it has begun. This second half should not only rely on the christmas bakery, but we will find ways.

For this year's World AIDS Day (1st of December) members of UAAH baked 600 AIDS ribbons made out of bread dough. Also our Christmas bakery was finished: the collected donations could be given personally to Fr. Frederick Tusingire from Uganda during his visit to Germany. Here is a short report on these issues.

Following our success of the past years we are now once again baking Christmas cookies for Uganda. Last year 52 kilos of baked goods were sold and we are hoping to come close to this result this year. More than 15 varieties of cookies are in the making and all the money received will go to the children and women supported by our sponsored projects in Uganda.
We are also baking sweet AIDS ribbons to be sold in the secondary school Tegernsee on the 1st of December in order to raise awareness that AIDS is still a major killer.

Many thanks to all the visitors of our Uganda evening in Vienna on the 7th of July – you have donated € 300,-! As some of the money came from selling the basket woven by the Ihunga Needy and Orphans Anti HIV/AIDS Group, half of the money donated will be given directly to their group and their projects – the rest will be divided amongst our other projects.
